Mangalore : Polling to the local administrative bodies in DK and Udupi district which saw a poor turn out in the Mangalore, picked in the afternoon and a polling percentage of 61.46 has been registered in the 544 polling booths of the district. A polling percentage of 63.46 is registered in a total of 148 booths in Udupi district.
The polling percentage in Mangalore is 51, 54.8 in Ullal, 63.3 in Moodbidri, 65.6 in Bantwal, 60.41 in Puttur, 63.6 in Belthangady and 71.7 in Sullia.
In Udupi, the polling percentage by 3 pm stood at60.35 in Udupi CMC limits, 67.14 in Saligrama, 61.90 in Kundapur and 64.20 in Karkala.
Polling was by and large peaceful in both the districts. The Pejawar seer who had earlier said that he would boycott the polls, changed his mind and cast his votes at the Tenkapete North school. Later, speaking to reporters, he said he decided to vote as otherwise it may kickstart a controversy.
In Shivabagh, a kiosk set up by a political party close by a polling booth, was vacated.
