Mangaluru : Senior Congress leader and former Union minister B Janardhana Poojary on Friday demanded a probe by a sitting Supreme Court as the state politics has turned into a hot cauldron, with both ruling Congress party and the main opposition party BJP sparring over a diary allegedly seized from the house of Congress MLC K Govindaraju during a raid by the Income Tax Department.
Reacting to media queries here, Poojary said, “As BJP is holding reins at the Centre, it would be better for that party’s government to appoint a sitting Supreme Court judge to probe into the issue and also provide the judge all required facilities.”
Saying that even media is not spared with the jottings in the diary reportedly mentioning about payments made to various people, including media persons, Poojary said it is high time the truth comes out.
Daring state BJP president B S Yeddyurappa to disclose the contents of the diary, Poojary sought to know the reason behind cancelling the press conference called by Yeddyurappa in the day.
“The burden of proving the case is on Yeddyurappa and the Congress party is ready to face it,” he said. Poojary accused both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the party national president Amit Shah of hatching the conspiracy along with Yeddyurappa. It is nothing but unpardonable, with attempts being made to destabilise the Congress-ruled State governments, especially at a time when the people are yet to come out of the aftershock of demonetisation of high-value currency notes in the country, he criticised.
Reminding the BJP leaders who had once mocked at the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government at the Centre, accusing the party of having power over Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) by dubbing it as ‘Congress Bureau of Investigation’, Poojary described CBI now as ‘BJP Bureau of Investigation’.
Referring to the burning issue of Yettinahole drinking water project by diverting Nethravathi river water, Poojary warned of going on a fast on the premises of Kudroli Sree Gokarnanantha Temple. However, he did not elaborate on the exact day of fasting, saying that he was waiting for the final stand of the government.
