The poor quality food prepared by Christy Food Gram Industries for Anganawadis left a bad taste in the mouth, and ruined the health of eaters (children and teachers) because of early expiry validity, was the complaint made by Ullal MLA, U.T. Khader and some ZP members to the ZP chief in the monthly progress review meeting held on Wednesday (June 23), forcing an enquiry by the Social Justice standing Committee to enquire into the substances, and prevent poor quality food being served in Anganawadis of DK dt. The Committee will visit 4 centre where food is packed is not used but had to be accepted.
In the same ZP meeting on June 23, opposition Congress member A.C.Bhandery alleged that ZP was helping only the private school lobby, ignoring state schools. The standard of education had gone down in the govt schools due to non-availability of quality teachers.
Mamatha Gatti, a former ZP chief stated that in rural areas, school children had to walk at least 2 Kms to reach a HP school.
CEO P. Shivashankar replied that in remote areas, schools could not be built by ZP as students were not enough. However, in the last decade (10 years), 1037 classrooms were built all over the district.
M. Gatti again complained that text books did not reach private schools although 3 weeks have passed since opening them for students. DDPI Chamegowda assured that 60% schools have received them and balance 40% would get them in a week hence.
