Mangalore: Members of the Mangalore Division of the All India Postal Extra Departmental Employees Union who are on an indefinite protest since October 16 as part of a nationwide indefinite strike, on October 22, Monday staged a demonstration in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Mangalore in support of their demands.
K William E Lobo, President of the Mangalore Division of the Union, who addressed the agitators urged the government to fulfill the demands of the rural postal non-departmental employees.
He said some of the demands of the Association are to regularize the services of the Rural postal employees as per the Supreme Court ruling of 1977 in accordance to the Justice Talwar committee recommendations, to provide bonus to rural postal staff on part with other staff, to recruit rural staff to vacant departmental posts in accordance to seniority of service and on the basis of performance in test.
Yashwanth, Secretary of the Union, Harishwar Rao, Treasurer and others led the agitation.
