Mangaluru: Injustice to the poura karmika’s was came to light in a meeting of Karnataka Safayi Karmachari Commission President Narayan with the poura karmika’s of the district, at DC Office on Friday.
Many poura karmika’s, expressed their grievances in front of Narayan. There prominent problem was of payment. A poura karmika woman Jayamma said “we are getting paid Rs 6000 per month, contractor says that the remaining money goes for PF and ESI. But we haven’t received any documents for our PF/ESI account. We are not being provided by gloves and gum shoes also.”
Replying to this Narayan said that there are many schemes for the development of poura karmika’s, but they are not being utilised by the contractors. They are cheating poura karmika’s.
“The remaining money should be credited to the accounts of workers within a month. Contractors should provide the PF/ESI documents within a week. Local governing bodies should take care of these things. And the workers should be subjected for health checkups regularly,” he said.
He further said that pay slip should be given to the workers soon after paying the salary.
Community hall for poura karmika’s
The poura karmika colonies are very congested and there is no place for them to celebrate any happy occasions, he said adding “One community hall will be built at the cost of Rs 2 crore. A plan will be sent to social welfare department soon.”
He further stated that state poura karmika development corporation will be formed in next 15 days. Rs 50 crore will be reserved for the development of the poura karmika’s.
