Bangalore: The 2011 summer requirements of energy in the state may touch over 150 millions units per day and the state govt, has made arrangements to meet the requirements of users, Shobha Karandlaje (Energy Minister) indicated today while talking to news persons.
Her department was examining the supply-demand position for the next 6 months, especially in summer time. The energy deptt, is likely to sign agreements with private producers and the national grid, besides other surplus states which have earlier helped Karnataka to tide over the shortage crisis. Chattisgarh is one such surplus state. She is in touch with Jindal power Co., too. There are Bellary and Udupi Thermal power stations and Hydel power producers to think of Kaiga Atomic power production units are raising more power now.
The state has made a proposal to Centre to build High Tension lines to evacuate power from Bellary and Udupi, Shobha said. She was leading a delegation to New Delhi in this respect soon. 2 units in Raichur Thermal plant are good to run for next 5 years, she proudly stated in reply to queries.
