Mangaluru: Youth Welfare and Sports department Deputy Director Pradeep D’Souza inaugurated the district level weightlifting competition at Don Bosco Hall on Tuesday.

The competition was organised by Dakshina Kannada Weightlifters Association in collaboration with Dakshina Kannada Association of Body Builders.

Speaking on the occasion Pradeep D’Souza said that since childhood he was interested in sports, especially in Volleyball and football. Being a deputy director of sports department he can’t do partiality in sports.

“We should encourage sports and sportsmen. We can encourage them by holding sports related activities more often. We should forget our differences there by uniting for the cause of good sports. Talents can be brought to light if such events are organised frequently,” he said.

M Nagesh Kumar, Ashok Shetty, Kamalaksha Amin and other association members were present.
