Mangaluru: Under Central government’s Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayi scheme, the water sources, amount of water available, demand and supply and the solution for the water scarcity’s reports will be sent to the the government within July, said Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim.
He was speaking in a meeting with various department’s officials, NGO’s and Farmers Association delegates at DC Office on Wednesday.
“The main purpose of this scheme is to implement one single scheme to the whole district by collecting the information from irrigation department, agricultural, horticultural, mining, forest, municipality, ZP and other local governing bodies. The draft has been already prepared.
Considering the opinion and suggestion from various departments, the reports will be sent to the government within July 31. The state government will forward it to the Central,” informed Agricultural Department Joint Director Kempegowda.
MLA Abhaychandra Jain suggested that vented dam’s should be included in NREGA scheme.
Environmental Activist Satish Shetty said that rain water harvesting at Western Ghats region should be implemented.
Further DC suggested that the industries should be provided desalinated sea water for the industrial purposes.
