Mangaluru : Pradhan Mantri Micro Units Development and Refinance Agency (MUDRA) Yojana was launched in Dakshina Kannada on Monday with formal distribution of loan certificates to beneficiaries.
Addressing a gathering after the launch, Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP, said that people could take non-agricultural loan under the scheme. It was mainly for entrepreneurial activities.
The amount of loan was up to Rs. 10 lakh. The ‘shishu’ loan was up to Rs. 50,000, the ‘kishore’ loan would be from Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 5 lakh and the ‘tarun’ loan would be from Rs. 5 lakh to Rs. 10 lakh.
He said that the Union government would introduce e-marketing facility at all post offices in the country to save the post offices from being closed down. Owners of micro enterprises, especially in villages and semi-urban areas could use of the facility for marketing their products.
Those who would manufacture products by availing loan under the MUDRA scheme could also market their products through post offices. The government was also planning to introduce banking facilities at post offices. Mr. Kateel asked all banks to inform people about the scheme so that they can make the best use of it.
