Beltangady : The Praja Prabhutva Vedike in collaboration with Rashtriya Hindu Jagaran Vedike and Navachandika Yaga Samiti, performed the ‘navachandika yaga’ for women’s security at Beltangady Taluk Maidan on October 10, Friday from 8 am.
The event was organized to observe the second death anniversary of Sowjanya who was found raped and murdered by some miscreants. During the yaga the gathered devotees worship goddess seeking security for women against atrocities and justice in Sowjanya rape and murder case.
During the yaga, over 10,000 people, especially women performed the yaga at the 11 yajnakundas in the venue and bowed before Goddess Chandi seeking her intervention.
Kollur temple chief priest Manjunath Adiga, Kemaru Sandeepani Sadhana Ashram Esha Vittal Swamiji, Subramanya Vidyaprasanna Swamiji, Balekudru Narasimhashrama Swamiji, Odiyuru Gurudevananda Swamiji, Mathanandamayi, Karinja Muktananda Swamiji, Kollur Dharmapeet Swamiji, Sadhvi Geethanandini, Maravoor Nithyananda Ashrama Swamiji, Ramakrishna Ashram Dharmavrithananda, Balekodi Shashikanthamani Swamiji performed the yaga.
Speaking on the occasion, founder of vedike Mahesh Shetty Thimarody said that the atrocity on women are increasing day by day and the Vedike felt that further they can be protected by the divine intervention of Goddess Chandi.
Speaking on Sowjanya rape and murder case, he said that in spite of continuous struggle for the justice the efforts went in vain and the criminals are open roaming in the city.
