Mangalore : An incident of pain and sorrow turned into joy to the parents, when their dead baby wakes up just before the burial.

It is learnt that, Gauri from Kumta had delivered a premature baby on August 15 at a private hospitals in Deralakatte and was kept in the incubator till August 22, Friday. But, on Saturday August 23 at 12 pm, doctors at the hospital declared the baby dead and asked Baby’s father Pushparaj to take the baby’s body.

Later, the depressed couple took away the baby and proceeded to the burial ground at Chembu Gudde, Thokkottu to conduct the last rites. But just as the parents poured milk into the baby’s mouth before the burial as per Hindu tradition, the baby started crying.

Overwhelmed couple immediately took the baby to another hospital for treatment and the baby is recovering.

Pushparaj has filed complaint against the private hospital at Ullal police station.
