Belthangady: Preparations are being made in full swing to welcome Congress National president Rahul Gandhi, who will be visiting Mangaluru on March 20th to take part in the ‘Janashirvada Yatra’. The roadshows will be held at various locations in the district followed by a stage programme at Mangaluru’s Nehru Maidan, said minister Ramanatha Rai, addressing the press meet at Belthangady Tourist Rest House on Thursday.
Rahul who is visiting Dakshina Kannada district for the first time after becoming the president of KPCC, will be inaugurating a ‘Seva Dal’ office in Padubidiri followed by a roadshow. The roadshows will be held at Surathkal and Ambedkar circle. The different units of Congress will welcome Rahul Gandhi at different points along the road show route.
Rahul Gandhi comes from a family that has sacrificed for the country. A large-scale programme will be held at Nehru Maidan. Previously, the stage used to be set up on Nehru Maidan Football ground, facing the south. This time the stage will be set up on the cricket grounds facing the east side, he said.
Moral policing, murder, church attacks, pub attacks and other such incidents occurring in Mangaluru has attracted national attention. Rahul Gandhi’s programme will play a vital role in inspiring Congress workers to unite and push away communal groups, he added.
Modi government is duping the people by giving them false promises. Being in power for such a long period, Lokpal has not yet been passed. Gujarat still does not have a Lokayukta. BJP has lost 13 seats in the Lok Sabha by-polls and its public popularity is decreasing. The technique of cheating people will not last for long. People will teach BJP a proper lesson, he criticized.
MLA Vasanth Bangera will bring more than 15,000 people for the rally, he informed.
A special party leaders meeting was held after the press meet.
