Bangalore: There was a duel of words on Monday between ruling and opposition benches in the legislature on the Topic of CM Yeddyurappa’s sons collecting funds illegally in the name of Prerana Shikshana Trust creating a pandemonium or a market scene in the Vidhana Soudha.
As the business of the day started, Congress leader Siddarmaiah sought the point of attention of the House under the rule 60, contributions made to Prerana Shikshan Trust. Speaker K.G.Bopaiah refused the consideration for discussion.
Opposition members angrily insisted upon a proper discussion. The Speaker relented later to conduct a discussion under rule 69. Siddarmaiah asked for a CBI enquiry into the Prerana Trust collection of funds.
Intervening the debacle, CM Yeddyurappa said he was ready for a discussion in the matter.
He explained that not a single rupee from donations had been misused. If it is proved that donated amounts had been misused, he would leave the CMK’s chair immediately, he retorted. The opposition (Congress/JDS) Members asked for a CBI enquiry, but CM informed them that he had no faith in CBI conducted enquiry. The CM and Congress leader had a war of words. CM offered to hold enquiry into all educational Trusts’ funds, but what kind of enquiry it should be, would be left to the speaker and the House, he taunted.
When the opposition asked for CBI enquiry again, CM refused to accede, giving rise to a hell of noises in the legislature against its décor.
