Bengaluru: The prime accused of serial church bomb blast in the state has been arrested after a huge gap of 16 years, by Telangana police on Tuesday.
Sheikh Amir Ali is the arrested person. Karnataka CID and Telangana police jointly conducted the operations to nab him.
Amir is a member of Deendar Anjuman organisation. His native is Nalgonda district at Telangana. It is assumed that this catch will be a huge lead in the case. Six more people are yet to be arrested in the case and out of them five are from Pakistan.
The arrest warrant was issued by the first ACMM court after observing their absence for the hearing of the case. The warrant was issued in the name of Amir and other missing accused.
The serial blasts took place at Wadi in KAlburgi district, Keshawpur in Hubballi, Jagajjivaram nagar and Magadi road church at Bengaluru. The blasts were conducted by Deendar Anjuman organisation. The charge sheet was filed against 29 people in the case.
It was reported that the blasts were backed to create communal violence between Hindu and Christians.
