Mangaluru: Traffic rule violations by private buses and auto rickshaw drivers topped the phone-in-programme of city police commissioner T R Suresh here on Friday.
A caller from Maryhill complained about auto drivers demanding excessive fare on meter at Maryhill and Lalbhagh. In reply, T R Suresh, appealed to the people to note down the number of the auto when drivers demand excess fare and file a complaint with the police. “We will take stringent action against erring auto drive,” he said.
Another called complained about traffic snarls at Nanthur Circle and alleged that police are not manning the traffic at the circle properly. Suresh, in his reply, assured that traffic management at various circles in the city will be improved soon.
When the issue of private bus staff not issuing tickets to passengers was raised by a caller, Suresh said; Issuing ticket to passengers is a must and if anyone is not doing so, please register a complaint and police will take action.
A caller from Shakthinagar urged the police to erect humps at Shakthinagar Cross Road to put a brake on speeding buses, Suresh directed the officials concerned to look into the issue.
A caller from Urwa store mentioned about the inconvenience being caused to pedestrians due to the parking on footpaths in Urwa store and Ashoknagar stretches. Suresh assured to look into the matter.
