Bangalore: Deputy Chief Minister R Ashok has said that Interpol help has been sought to elicit more information on those having terror links, in the backdrop of arrest of 11 persons having links with the banned Indian Mujahedeen.
He said union home minister Sushil Kumar Shindhe has been kept informed on the developments and added most of the communication of the terror suspects was through SMSes and that the police have all details.
“The ring members had received cash from some source. We have seized the cash. They had code names for their targets. They wanted to target a Bajrang Dal activist in Hubli and an advocate in Andhra Pradesh, who used to handle cases of pro-Hindu organizations,” the minister said.
While directing the coastal police to be on high alert, the deputy CM did not cite any reason for the same. He also said there was strong suspicion that the arrested had plans to engage in disruptive activities to create instability in the state.
It is learnt, a laptop seized from one of the suspects had photographs of two journalists in the company of Gujarat CM Narendra Modi during the Gujarat visit.
