Mangalore: A felicitation programme got up by Sharada College group of educational institutions and its members and blessed by Udupi Pejawar Matt seer Vishwesha Tirtha Swamiji in Kodialbail, paid tributes to Prof. M. B Puranik for his multi-faceted services in education and other fields over long years.
The Udupi seer lauded Prof. Puranik for his services to protect cows in the state and providing qualitative education to thousands of Dravida Brahmin students on the West Coast.
The function had Dr. Madhava Bhandari, MUDA Chief, in the chair. N. Krishnappa of RSS made the felicitation address. He said that an award does not raise the level or quality of the winner. There were fewer people who were content these days with what they had, but those who demanded more, were too many.
Krishnappa made it clear that Prof. Puranik did not hanker for awards and will continue to do more service to the society and spread his thoughts in a humble way, among students and citizens.
Tulunadu Education trustee J. Jagannath welcomed the gathering. Builder K.C Naik, Kateel Temple priest L.N. Asranna, Pradeep Kalkura, Dharmadarshi H.K Punarooru, B.S Rao, Raghunath Somayaji, Sharavu R. Shastri, K.S Kalluraya and others were present.
Prof. M.B Puranik had received Karnataka Rajyotsava Award (consisting of Rs.1 lakh and citation) on Nov.1 this year. His wife Sunanda was by his side during the present felicitation programme.
