Mangalore : There is an urgent need for due attention towards research and development in Medical Instrumentation, said eminent national research professor Dr MS Valiathan.
He was delivering the Dr. N. Sridhar Shetty Endowment Lecture at AB Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences on July 9, Tuesday. The function was held under the joint aegis of Nitte University and Old Students of Dr. N. Sridhar Shetty, Founder Dean of ABSMIDS for 21 years and presently the Director, Center for Advanced Dentofacial Stomatognathic Sciences (CADSS), Nitte University.
He also stressed the need for better co-ordination between educational Institutions and industries. “Our contribution in Medical Instrumentation is less than 1% on International assessment. We should make drastic improvements in this area so that we are at par with advanced country,” he said.
Prof Dr. M. Shantaram Shetty, Pro Chancellor of Nitte University, presided over the function. Registrar Prof Dr. Sudhaker Nayak, Prof Dr B Rajendra Prasad Principal and Dean, Prof Dr. Priyadarshini Hegde, Chairperson, Organising Committee and others were present.
