Bangalore: Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda has superseded his predecessor as far as transfers of senior bureaucrats are concerned. In a latest move, he has transferred 36 IAS and KAS officers.
Though the Chief Minister has said that the main aim of the transfer was to give a boost to the administrative mechanism and to see that the services of good officials was available to people from various parts of the state, the state government act of promoting some tainted officials has raised several eyebrows.
In one instance, V Umesh, who was the Managing Director of Mysore Minerals Ltd during the period 1999-2000 and who is named as an accused in the report of former Lokayukta N Santosh Hegde in 2008 and against whom legal action was recommended for resorting to irregularities which has incurred a loss of Rs 6.90 crore to the government, has now been given a strategic post of the Principal Secretary of the Home Ministry.
Similarly, even KS Prabhaker and KE Shivalingamurthi who were identified as tainted in the Lokayukta second report have been given strategic posts.
