Mangalore : Survey department commissioner Ponnuraj said that every property owner will be issued with an urban owner property card which will be linked to the Bhoomi and Cauvery project and urban property ownership project has received better response in Mangalore compared to other cities.
Speaking at the press meet held at DC office on May 5, Monday, he said that the card which will be issued is an authentic property ownership document in form of seven page booklet, which will include the details of property liabilities, sketch, map, boundary, and type of ownership.
The card will be made mandatory in place of ‘khatas’ and RTC in urban areas and will reduce property disputes and check property tax evasion. Further, without the card is produced no registration of property will be done.
Speaking on the implementation of card, he said that around 55 percent of work on the urban property ownership project has been completed, whereas the Measurement work on 1,40,085 properties has been completed and 66,718 necessary documents have been collected, and mapping for 1,400,852 properties have been done.
In the coming days, the department will implement ‘Kandaya Adalath’ in rural areas to resolve property disputes and defects in the RTC.
