Mangalore: A protest was staged in front of Mangalore City Corporation on February 16, Saturday under the aegis of the Samastha Hindutvavadi Sanghatanegalu to condemn the denial of permission by the BJP government in Madhya Pradesh to the Hindus to offer the Friday pooja on Vasanth Panchami at the Sri Saraswathi Mandir, also known as Bhojashala at the Dhara village in Madhya Pradesh.
The protestors alleged that the BJP government has done injustice to the Hindus by denying them the permission to offer pooja on the only day they are otherwise allowed to offer pooja here.
The agitators further condemned the act of the government in placing Narendrananda saraswathi Swamiji of Srikashi Sumero Peetha under house arrest for the adamant stand adopted by him to offer pooja at the mandir at Vasanth Panchami Day. They alleged that the BJP government in Madhya Pradesh had behaved in a suspicious way by doing injustice to Hindus while offering a red carpet welcome for the namaz of the Muslims.
The organization also stated that the ser had begun an indefinite hunger strike in protest against the denial of permission for pooja and described the government act as detrimental to the interests of the Hindu community.
Ramananda Gowda, Ram Bhat, Sukanya Acharya, Leelavathi, Lokesh, Sangeetha Prabhu and others took part in the protest.
