Mangalore: The Parents’-Teachers’ Association (PTA) of Rosario High school, has urged the Deputy commissioner to reconsider the decision to have the school building for election purposes and urged the DC to take note of the fact that this would affect the studies of the students.
Mohammad Ali, President of the Association, who spoke to reporters, said a notice received from the DC who is also the election officer has said that the school’s 18 rooms will be required for the urban body elections and for counting of votes after the election and that the rooms would be needed for 14 days. This would mean that the school will have to be shut down, he said adding this would affect the students.
He said though the school management had written to the DC pointing out the problems faced so far there has been no response. The preparatory exams are scheduled to be held from March 4 and the same cannot be held if the school has to be used for election purposes, he said. He said the school authorities may have to protest if the district administration failed to take a favourable decision.
