Mangaluru: From now onwards the public can inform the police regarding the violation of traffic rules including parking through Whatsapp app or through facebook.

“The district police have provided this facility to the public of Dakshina Kannada district and the service will be commenced from October 4 itself,” said Superintendant of Police Bhushan G Borase.

“Public can send the image of the traffic violation cases along with the details to the whatsapp number 9480805300. The message should contain proper details such as place and landmark. Names of the sources will be kept confidential and the action taken by the police will be informed to the informer,” he said.

He further said that the messages will be received at the police control room and from there concerned station officials will be contacted. After fining the vehicle the police officials will inform the fine amount to the control room.

“The information will be uploaded in our website dkpolice.blogspot.in also. This facility is applicable to Bantwal, Belthangady, Puttur and Sullia police stations,” he added.
