Mangalore: The case relating to Dr. Binayak Sen, a social activist accused of carrying 3 letters of a CPI (Maoist) leader from jail to outside, has become a widely discussed issue in India, has become a widely discussed issue in India, as he was released on bail in Madhya Pradesh after a 2 years of imprisonment and then the judgment came from a lower level judge in Raipur that he was sentenced to life imprisonment along with 2 other companions.
The life sentence awarded to Dr. Sen has been severely criticized as “absence of justice” or “perverted justice” but not as proper justice. A higher appeal may be filed to reverse or reduce the sentence given for sedition in his case, which was unacceptable to those who knew him well. The judgment came on Dec 24 in 2010 but was treated ruthlessly.
PUCL has called it a bad day for India, when the verdict was handed to Dr. Sen in his presence. The decision was called politically motivated, senseless and ridiculous verdict by a minor judge (not of HC).
Dr. Sen himself was in shock when he was taken to a police van, to enter the prison for many long years as sympathizer of Maoism and violence.
PUCL described India as dependent “Banana” republic of English knowing western nations, like USA/UK or commonwealth countries (Australia/ New Zealand). India has gone down in estimation by developed and educated countries of the world, as a corruption ridden country despite all its achievements. What is ruling the civilized Indians, is a demoralized and immoral political group, even duly elected, as a party or an alliance. There is no God there, no moral values, no civilized ways of living. Even Judiciary is partially rotten as, also defence forces and politicians.
People’s union of civil liberties (PUCL) organized a protest demonstration against Dr. Binayak Sen’s arrest and life sentence today evening at the DCO gate in Mangalore, P.B. D’sa addressed the gathering and Ismat Pajir read out the contents of a statement at the rally of civilians.
Kabir Ullal, T.R. Bhat, Mohd. Kakkinje, Dr. Satish Rao, Robert D’souza, Augustine Rodrigues, CN Shetty among others were present.
