Mangalore : A PUCL fact finding committee led by P.B. D’sa and having 2 other members, has complained to the ADC, Prabhakar Sharma, and DC, V. Ponnuraj (in his absence, HQs assistant) on Tuesday (July 27) about the misdemeanours of 2 Gas distributing agencies in city, which are trying to impose their will on Gas consumers by some Monopoly practices, and selling besides gas other products at extra costs, with the Gas bills.
Subscribers to gas (for HP and Bharat Gas) are asked by the distributors, Avinash Enterprise (HP – LPG) Ullal and Panchami (BG) Thokkottu, to buy additional materials like gas stoves and pressure cookers from their outlets, even if the clients do not want them. Such extra products are charged Rs. 800 to 900 more, exceeding minimum retail price (MRP). The two distributing agencies work from Ullal and Thokkottu to harass customers. The gas sales method are inefficient, and exceed the given period of 15 days for cooking purposes, the PUCL committee reported to ADC and DC.
