Mangalore: State PUCL President PB D’Sa has said that the police action of arresting Journalist Naveen Soorinje in the homestay attack case, was uncalled for. He said it was unnecessary for the police to arrest the scribe when his anticipatory bail plea was pending before the court.
Speaking to press persons, he said members of the Karnataka Chapter of the PUCL and the Komu Sauharda Vedike would strive to ensure justice to the arrested journalist. He also urged the authorities to immediately withdraw the ‘false’ cases registered against the scribe.
He said if the case was not withdrawn, then the doors of the High Court would be knocked. He said Justice MF Saldanha, legal advisor of the Vedike would also write to the Karnataka High Court.
Ali Hasan of PUCL said the arrest of the journalist was aimed at throwing dust at public eyes towards the failure to check moral policing.
