Bangalore: White-haired, Union leader and former treasurer Pundalik Halambi, who served as Treasurer the Kannada Sahitya Parishat for 14 years, was elected on Tuesday President for a new 3-year term, defeating his nearest rival( and former KSP President) Champa, as 24th chief of Kannada Sahitya Parishat.
For Dr. Chandrashekhar Patil, it was the second straight defeat, once at the hands of Harikrishna Punarooru and now., again. He lost by a clean 6,683 votes to Halambi(15273 to 21,956).
KSP has 1,08,028 voters, but only 64,496 had voted(62%).
Talking to TV Channels and excited press reporters at the main office of KSP, Pundalik Halambi (along with his wife) showed a Victory sign, and said he would make a ‘Peace Park’ of all human societies at KSP during his rule.
Pampa(an epic poet) said all humans belonged to a single race, this declaration shown on front door of KSP would be guarded well in KSP, he added. It was not a position of power for him, but a place of service to do his duty, he elaborated humbly.
