Bantwal : Punjalkatte police arrested two arecanut theives from area and seized goods tempo and arecanut worth one and half lakhs from them on Oct 16, Thursday morning.

The arrested have been identified as Prasad from Panjikallu and Santhosh, Alias Santhu Poojary.

Reportedly, Punjalkatte Station SI Lathesh Kumar and constables stopped the tempo moving towards Belthangady from Bantwal while checking near Dekinakatta on Thursday morning. But as the driver tried to escape from the spot after seeing the police, the team chased the vehicle and found bags filled with arecanut with no documents during the checking.

During the interrogation the accused revealed that they had stolen arecanut from BC Road and other places. The accused have been produced before the court and sent to judicial custody.

Punjalkatte Station SI and ASI Kutty M K, constables Devappa, Lawrence, Subhash Shenoy, Venkappa, Abdul Latif, Ibrahim, Sathish and vehicle driver Asif participated in the arrest operation.
