Bengaluru: Mangaluru to get desalinated sea water for drinking water purpose like Chennai, said Urban Development Minister Roshan Baig.

Addressing a press conference on Thurday, he said that in Chennai the desalinated drinking water project is running with partnership of the government and private company.

“Recently a team visited the Chennai unit. We are planning to follow the same model here in Mangaluru also,” he said.

He further said that in Chennai because of the private partnership, the government is not facing much burden. The rent collected by the public will be directly given to the company. In Mangaluru also we will start a unit and gather the opinion of people regarding the project. So that it can be implemented in other places also.
