Puttur : A tragic road mishap reported from Santyar near Puttur on June 2, Sunday resulted in the death of a lady councilor of Puttur and three of her family members. Two others  were critically injured in the accident.

The accident occurred when a KSRTC bus bound to Sullia from Bellare collided  head on with the jeep in which the councilor’s family was travelling.

Those killed are Leena Mascarenhas, her husband Peter Mascarenhas, their son Preetham (13) and Leena’s brother Antony.

Peter worked for St Philomena High School of Puttur. They were returning after attending a marriage function at Sullia. Ironically, Peter had celebrated his 52nd birthday on June 1, Saturday.

The accident disrupted traffic for some time on the route.
