Puttur: The fast track court in Puttur has permitted Vittal Malekudiya a first year post-graduate journalism student of Mangalore University to write his annual exams with police security. It may be recalled here that Vittal was arrested in March this year on the charges of Naxal links.
The Puttur court order on Saturday comes close on the heels of a Belthangady court order denying Vittal permission to write his annual exams after the VC wrote a letter to the court stating that Vittal was facing attendance shortage.
Meanwhile, the Puttur court which reserved its order pertaining to the interim bail plea of the accused has said Vittal can appear for the exams scheduled from May 21 to 25 at University campus at Konaje and that he should be brought to the exam centre and taken from there to the prison in police escort.
At the same time, the court has directed Mangalore University to inform the court if he was eligible to appear for the exams.
