Puttur: With the whereabouts of Venkatramana Bhat who is absconding  reportedly killing his wife and three children at his house at Kakkur in Bettampady, are investigating the case from different angles. There is also a suspicion that  Bhat also had links with the gold biscuit smuggling racket and  it was in this backdrop that he had enacted the dacoity drama in his house.

Even locals suspect that he might be a passing agent of havala money or gold biscuits considering his contacts in Kasargod, Kannur and other places. According to another source, there is also the chance of Venkatramana Baht himself sending some youth to his house to enact the dacoity drama.

Already the blood samples, and food remains in the body of the deceased have been sent for  lab tests and the test results will reveal if they were given food mixed with poison.

The Puttur Rural Circle Inspector has also  written to the forensic laboratory authorities to give the test reports at the earliest. Meanwhile, Venkatramana Bhat’s brother Narayan Bhat who stays in Mumbai is expected to  visit   hometown on June 20.
