Puttur:  The son of an SDPI leader has been arrested by Andhra Pradesh police in Puttur for allegedly molesting a Dalit woman in Andhra Pradesh.

The arrested identified as Mohammed Faizal son of Abdul Hameed Salmara is a leader of SDPI and resident resident of Chikkamudnoor village near Puttur.

It is said that Faizal got introduced to a lady from Andhra Pradesh through Instagram. It is said that the acquaintance between the two turned into a love affair and resulted in a physical relationship. It is alleged that the youngster threatened the lady with uploading her photographs in social websites.

The lady complained to the police of her state about this harassment. The Andhra police who visited Puttur on Tuesday took him away.

His father Abdul Hameed Salmara is a leader of SDPI had participated in the protest held on Tuesday to condemn the gang rape which allegedly happened at Hathras.

The fact that his son got arrested for sexual harassment at a time he himself was protesting against rape of a woman has now put the father in an awkward position.
