Puttur : Former Puttur  MLA Shakuntala Shetty has formally joined the Congress on February 25, Monday thereby putting an end to speculations regarding her political move ever since she alienated from her parent party BJP.

Shakuntala who had rebelled against BJP and had contested from Swabhimani Vedike in Puttur during the last assembly elections, had to taste defeat at the hands of BJP’s official candidate Mallika Prasad. Later, she had remained aloof from politics though once speculations were rife that she may join the JD(S).

But, Shakuntala has now joined the Congress. She said she would work for the welfare of the people as a sincere Congress worker.
