Mangaluru : Inauguration of Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) Sponsored 10 days Research Methodology Course organized by the Department of Human Consciousness and Yogic Sciences, Mangalore University, Mangala gangothri. Prof. M.R. Ranganatha, Director, Smart Academy, Bangalore, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and inaugurated the function by lighting the lamps. In his inaugural address, he has compared the state of research and said that doing research 20 years ago was completely different than today, when there is a big support to researchers and government bodies, such as UGC, have developed minimum standards and procedure for award of Ph.D. degree. He has also pointed out that ICSSR (Indian Council of Social Science Research) is doing a big work by collaborating with many universities and coming forward to help research scholars.
The function was presided by Prof. P. Subrahmanya Yadapadithaya, Honorable Vice Chancellor of Mangalore University. In his address to the gathering he advised the delegates not to compromise on the quality of their work but to put in their best research efforts for the benefit of the entire society. He also stressed the importance of theory Research and Practice, necessity of being good human. He also narrated his own experience as researcher and as research guide and elaborated the essential qualities to be possessed by the researcher and the research guide.
Prof. Shripathi Kalluraya P., Finance officer, Professor and Chairman, Department of Economics, Mangalore University, course co-director, has welcomed the dignitaries, organizers and delegates. In his address he has expressed his appreciation to the organizers for having such a useful academic event and highlighted the need of this, mainly to improve the research quality of our universities, especially in the field of social sciences.
Chief Guest of the day Prof. M.R. Ranganatha was felicitated by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor. Prof. K. Krishna Sharma, Professor and Chairman, Department of Human Consciousness and Yogic Sciences, Mangalore University, course director, has presented a memento to Prof. P. Subrahmanya Yadapadithaya, the Honorable Vice Chancellor of Mangalore University, and extended the Vote of Thanks to the gathering and all participants to learn to the maximum during this workshop and do their research in the most professional manner.
18 resource persons and 30 participants who are M.Phil/Ph.D/ PDF Scholars in Social Sciences from universities of all over India are participating in the Research Methodology Course.
