Bengaluru : Revenue Minister Mr R Ashoka handed over a cheque of Rs 1 lakh to a family which had lost its kin to Covid. Speaking on the occasion on Thursday, Mr Ashoka said, “The State Government had earlier announced a financial relief of Rs 1 lakh to those BPL families which had lost one of the family members to Covid.
This has been officially launched from today. So far, we have received 7,729 applications. A committee has been set up at the district-level under the chairmanship of the deputy commissioner to review the applications and sanction the amount. The beneficiaries can also apply at the Nadakacheri. The amount will be given from the disaster management fund. Today, I have symbolically launched the programme and henceforth the deputy commissioners will distribute the amount at the respective districts. Centre has also announced Rs 50,000 ex gratia for the families which have lost their family members to Covid. We are yet to get the guidelines on the same. ”
BJP to get Mayoral post in Kalaburagi
Criticizing the Congress party for organizing the Vokkaliga legislators meet, Mr Ashoka said that BJP never discriminated against people based on caste lines. “It is the Congress agenda to divide people based on castes”, he said. He also exuded confidence that the saffron party will bag the mayoral polls in Kalaburagi Municipality and he has already held discussion with former CM HD Kumaraswamy and his brother HD Revanna.
