Mangalore: R. Hitendra IPS is the new city police Commissioner. He took over from outgoing CPC Manish Kharbhikar new DIG of KSRP in Bangalore on promotion.
In chat with a news men The New CPC told them that he was not new to the port city, having spent a few months at the beginning of his carrier in IPS cadre of 1996. He hails from Kolar and has held several kinds of duties before he returned to Mangalore, at the head of the Commissionarate.
Answering a query from a reporter on the short comings of the police force in catching criminals and the increase of crimes in city he said he would do everything he can to reduce the number of crimes taking place in the coastal area and maintain public peace. With his rich experience it was easy for him to tone up the city police forces to work hard and reduce accidents and crimes.
He hoped that the media both print and electronic, would stand by him, co operate with him and successfully help to maintain law and order situation in this growing city which is next only to Bangalore in importance in Karnataka state.
Earlier, before he came to Mangalore he was SP (Banking security and fraud cell) of CBI, Bangalore on November 1, 2006 and held the post till March 31, 2010. From April 1, 2010 to October 2013, he served as DIG of anti-corruption department, CBI, Bangalore.
He won the police medal in 2012 for Meritorious Service, on Independence Day.
