Mangalore: The annual Rachana awards for 2011 were conferred on 5 stalwarts at a special programme held in Milagres Jubilee Hall on Sunday, No. 27, by C.Fernandez, IAS, secretary to President of India as guest of honour who stated that while share holders in companies money, stakeholders as the other wheel of a common cart, made an humane enterprise out of such business.
Rachana awards were presented to Sister Maria Goretti, Paul Tauro, R.C. Rodrigues, CTJ Gonsalves and Lawrence D’sousa (NRI) for their various achievements in education, agriculture, enterprise, professionalism and so on.
Bishop of Mangalore A.Paul D’souza presided. He said that the state had not come forward to recongnise such talents and more such awards should be given to Christian community members.
Mancel Monteiro gave a fat cheque to the Bishop to build model houses for the poor in encouragement of Sister Maria’s services
