Mangalore: In a sickening case of ragging of two junior students, ten senior students beat them up in a rage in the middle of the road near Nantoor at night on Tuesday, April 3, and one of the students, Robin a native of Kerala, was pushed into a gorge.
Robin was a new student in first year at a medical College in city.
The boy was rescued by local municipal corporate Diwakar and friends traveling that way. The other student managed to escape, after the beating by his seniors.
Robin pushed into a ditch, dangled from a tree branch, until Diwakar rescued him.
Robin was taken to a police station and then admitted to a hospital for a heed injury. The incident occurred at 9-30 PM.
The senior boys are still not arrested for ragging, which is a punishable offence under criminal law.
