Udupi : Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat said he will contest the elections if the party allows him. He also stated that otherwise, he will not bother but will work for the victory of the party.
Bhat who spoke to media men said he has already lodged a complaint with the SP and the Deputy Commissioner regarding the sex video and added he wants the guilty who are aimed at tarnishing his image, to be brought to book.
Earlier hundreds of party workers were present at the Udupi district BJP office at Kunjibettu and demanded that Bhat be given a ticket to contest from Udupi in the upcoming Assembly elections. On Saturday, Bhat had said he would announce his decision on Sunday.
On March 31, a BJP meet was held at the party office wherein several party workers raised slogans in support of Bhat and demanded that he be given a ticket. They also urged that the guilty be brought to justice and that the video was just an attempt to spoil the reputation of the MLA who has done much for the progress of the district. Earlier, BJP men raised a clamour when media men were present in the office with their cameras. The party men cooled down after they were
pacified by Bhat.
