Mangaluru: Congress president Rahul Gandhi arrived at Mangaluru International Airport to take part in ‘Janashirvada Yatre’ to be held at various parts of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts of Karnataka.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, KPCC President G Parameshwara and Congress leaders Mallikarjuna Kharge, B Ramanath Rai, Mayor Bhaskar K Moily, KC Venugopal, MLC Ivan D’souza, MLA J R Lobo, former Mayor Kavitha Sanil and others welcomed the Congress chief at the airport.
Rahul Gandhi along with Siddaramaiah and other leaders left in a chopper to Udupi to inaugurate the Rajiv Gandhi Political Institute (Sevadal Training Centre) at Tenke Yermal in Udupi district.
His Janashirvada Yatre will begin with a corner meeting at Padubidri on the Udupi – Mangaluru national highway at 1.45pm. He will be addressing the Janaashirvad Rally at the Nehru Maidan in Mangaluru. After the rally and public meeting, Gandhi will visit Kudroli Gokarnanatha Temple, Rozario Cathedral and Ullal Syed Madani Dargah in the evening.
