Mangaluru: The district Congress committee staged a protest against Union Government and Subramanian Swamy for the false allegation that Congress President Sonia Gandhi was involved in the Agusta Westland VVIP chopper deal. The protest was held infront of DC office on Monday.
Addressing the protesters, district in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai, said, “The BJP government has totaly failed in living up to the expectations of the people, Subramanian Swamy is a blackguard who is consistently passing comments against Nehru family and trying to defame the country. His contribution is nil so far. Nehru implemented five year plan and introduced several schemes for the needy that should be remembered. It was Dr Singh’s economic reforms that kept India strong during the economic slowdown. I give a call to all the party workers to protest and condemn the false allegations being made by the BJP, Rai said.
MLA JR Lobo said that BJP leaders always criticized the schemes implemented by the UPA government, but now, they have continued with the same schemes. BJP men are cowards who indirectly pass comments through Subramanian Swamy. BJP is known for its innumerous promises which are never kept after election. They came to power by criticising schemes and projects introduced by congress party.
MLC Ivan D’Souza said that about six months back, Subramanian Swamy made a comment calling Sonia Gandhi a foreigner. Now he has targeted Sonia Gandhi again. The accusations made by him are completely baseless. He is a traitor who is also BJP’s pet dog which barks for unwanted reasons and also needs to be exiled from the country, he said.
DK Congress interim President Ibrahim Kodijaal, MLA Mohiudeen Bava, Mayor Harinath, former mayors Mahabala Maarla, Ashraf, Shashidhar Hegde, Youth Congress President Mithun Rai, PV Mohan, AC Vinayraj and others were present.
