Mangalore : The District Administration celebrated 67th Independence Day at Nehru Maidan on August 15, Thursday.
District in charge minister Ramanath Rai hoisted the Tricolour flag and later he received the guard of honour.
Rai in his speech said that it is time for the people to recall the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters and who has assured protection to our lives.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that the state has made tremendous development in the rural sector by providing the of drinking water facility. Further it will work for the development of the state by providing good roads, housing, healthcare, security, good education, and law and order to every people of the state.
The state government has completed its 100 days in administration and has successfully launched the assured schemes stated in the party manifesto during the time of elections.
During the occasion, MLA J R Lobo distributed smart cards to the beneficiaries.
Team including DAR KSRP, civil police, traffic police, women police, home guards, fire and safety personnel, NCC army, NCC naval, NCC air wing, Doberman security, scouts, guides, road safety patrol girls and boys, Bala Seva Dal girls and boys and Satya Sai music band, Alape and Police band enthralled the audience with their beautiful march past
The NCC air wing (senior) won the first place while the second prize went to Satya Sai music band for the beautiful march past.
DC N Prakash, IGP Pratap Reddy, ZP CEO Tulasi Maddideni, SP Abhishek Goyal, police commissioner Manish Karbikar, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLC Monappa Bhandary, and others were present.
Minister also inaugurated the Independence Day Cup cricket tourney.
