Mangalore : Following the suspension of Kavoor SI Umesh Kumar, the Congress house is filled with silent resentment.
According to one of the members in the party said that the Congress leaders like highly pressurizing the state leaders to act on the incident and transfer the City Police Commissioner who suspended Kavoor SI after the report filed by Hindu fundamental groups.
Speaking on the issue at a press meet, district in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai said that there is no issue like that and if it is true the Congress heads at the state will correct the sentiments of the Congressmen.
It is said that Mangalore North MLA Moideen Bava and MLC Ivan D’Souza had met the CM at his residence in Bangalore to pressurize him to the transfer Commissioner R Hitendra and in turn CM has responded positively to their request.
Responding to the query of the reporters Rai said that there is possible move of transfer, since no action was taken against the activists who attacked the devotees in church in 2008. But he had taken action against the SI who did his duty. People themselves can clearly the judge the fault because the case is transparent, he added.
Commenting on his previous statement statements of invoking Goonda Act against activists who picket government offices and other establishments during protests, Rai said that no Congress leader has expressed opposition to it. Law and order should be equal to everyone, he informed.
Congress district unit interim President Ibrahim Kodijal, President of District Youth Congress Mithun Rai, former MLA Vijay Kumar Shetty and others were present.
