Udupi: “Contribution of police department in democratic system is valuable. So, the police personnel should perform their duty effectively. Along with service they should evince honesty and other such values through their duty,” said Bengaluru Railways Additional Police Director General Amarkumar Pandey.
He was speaking after receiving guard of honour from the 10th railway police training batch’s march past held at Chandu ground on Saturday.
“In 1861 police system was implemented in India and after 20 years railway police unit was started. Railway police is one of the oldest units of India and still it has maintained its dignity. It has its own tradition and speciality,” he said.
He further said that safeguarding the railway passengers and their goods is the primary duty of railway police. Many police have sacrificed their lives during performing the duty. It is the history and tradition of railway police. It should be continued through the end.
