26.06.10 Mangalore : The Netravathi (river) has been rising steadily due to heavy down pour of rains in the last 3 days, low-lying areas of Kallapu, Bajal and Karmbistan have drowned.
Yenepoya School, Yekkur and other areas poor people left their homes. The inflow into Netravathi’s bowels has enlarged the river in 72 hours, making it tempestuous. The water have attained dangerous dimensions of entering homes on the sides.
In Kulshekhar, railway tracks remain submerged on Mangalore – Bangalore route. The work of clearing the tracks from hill slips and mud continues.
A hill has collapsed in Ashoknagar near Urwa onto the road, causing much inconvenience to the pedestrians and traffic
