Mangaluru: The seer of Vajradehi Mutt (Gurupura) has warned of a protest if the bride-to-be, who went missing on the eve of her wedding, is not brought back to her house in the next four days.
Rajasekharananda Swami, who visited Priyanka’s house on Sunday, said police must produce her before the family by Friday. He expressed dissatisfaction over the police department for its “slow pace” of investigation.
The seer alleged that organizations like Popular Front of India and Karnataka Forum for Development had trapped Priyanka, 25, into falling in love with a youth named Hyder and that she could be innocent. This has to be investigated, he said, adding that he will speak to the DC and the SP.
Meanwhile, Hindu activists accompanying the seer alleged that the police were investigating the case for the heck of it. They said though adequate information was provided to them about Hyder, they visited his house only once.
Priyanka was supposed to marry her boyfriend of six years on December 11. However, she went missing on December 9 night. Hindu outfits have been alleging that it as a case of Love Jihad.
Some days ago, the bride-to-be’s family received a letter in the name of Priyanka. The letter stated that she was happy with Hyder, and insisted that they stop searching for her. The letter further read that the couple will soon appear before the court and that Priyanka has written letters to the DC, the SP and Moodbidri police station.
However, Priyanka’s mother has cast aspersions over the letter, saying the handwriting did not match with that of her daughter.
Priyanka’s family members had the habit of consuming juice late in the night. On the day of elopement, she gave them juice laced with a sedative. When they were asleep, Priyanka allegedly escaped with Hyder. She took 10 sovereigns of gold – which her mother arranged with difficulty for the wedding – passport and Aadhaar card among other items.
