Mangalore: Rajiv Gandhis’s 20th death anniversary was observed in DKCC premises on Saturday. Rajiv was killed by LTTE suicide bomber this day in 1991 at Sriperumbudur near Chennai. Youth Congress joined in the remembrance proceedings along with senior Congress activists.
MLA B. Ramanatha Rai (DKCC Chief), Ivan D’Souza (KPCC Secretary) and other district leaders paid floral tributes to Rajiv Gandhi on his death anniversary.
Rai reminded the gathering of the strides taken by Rajiv in education and technology fields. He lauded steps taken by Gandhi in reforming and modernizing Indian youth.
Praising the political skills of Rajiv and his mother Indira who preceded him in death as well, Rai stated that if they were alive, they would have solved Karnataka’s political crisis in 90 minutes. He again spoke of Rajiv’s visit to Bajpe a day before fate took him away. MLA UT Khader also spoke and said Universal Adult Frachise was implemented by Rajiv.
Suresh Balla, Mamata GAtti, K. Ashraf, Ibrahim Kodijal, Badruddin and other local leaders were present.
