Mangaluru: Well-Known Kannada and Tulu literary and Rajyotsava awardee Bola Chittaranjan Das Shetty, passed away in his residence on August 7.
Bola Chittaranjan (72) was born to Partimar Guttu Manjayya Shetty and Rukmini Shetty in Bola village in Karkala, Udupi district on August 30, 1944. He is eldest son of the family and was married to Kushala Shetty .
He wrote Tulu play ‘Ponnu Mannda Bombe’in 1973. The essay ‘Kambula’he wrote in 1983. It is the first writing related to Kammbala of Tulu Nadu sport. His Kannada novel ‘Alidulidavaru’ in 1990 brought good name to him.
Bola Chittaranjan spoke to his friends on the phone as usual on August 7. His wife went to the temple for Nagara Panchami, and Chittaranjan was alone at home. When his wife returned home at 4:00 pm, Chittaranjan had already died due to cardiac arrest. He was rushed to the hospital but doctors pronounced him brought dead.
He survived two children, wife and huge fans of Tulu – Kannada literary field. His final rite will be held in Kuttar Guttu on Monday.
