Mangaluru: District in-charge Minister Ramanath Rai inaugurated ‘World Tourism Day’ celebration at DC office on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion Rai said that in Dakshina Kannada tourism sector has been neglected. Though the city has all sort of connectivity including sea port, we have been inable to promote tourism.

“Attracting more tourists should be our motto. World tourism day is being celebrated to spread awareness about the importance of tourism sector. The rich culture and tradition of the district should be promoted,” he said.

Many people expressed their views and suggestions to promote the tourism in the district.

Addressing the gathering Deputy Commissioner K G Jagadeesh said that he will welcome all the suggestions and views of the people. Though there are hundreds of ways to develop the tourism sector, it is not done yet.

“Formation of teams which should consist of creative and constructive people is necessary. Interested people can enrol their name and a discussion meeting will be called in fortnight to plot the plan of action,” he added.

ADC Kumar, Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Pradeep Kumar Kalkura and others were present.
